Cozumel, Mexico (the Mayan ruins of Tulum)

Standing on the pier on Cozumel.

Entering the ruins.

This main building was the Mayan temple.

This is a very interesting building. The corner has a face carved into it, with its eyes open because this corner faces East.

Its hard to see, but there is the reamins of a mural on the back wall.

This corner faces West, and it's eyes are closed.

The small holes around the top are for a sundial. When the sun was exactly aligned, it would shine a beam of light through the hole onto the wall.

This would signify the end of a season.

Everything here is carved out of limestone.

The site is set atop a very steep cliff. This is your only warning before your off the edge.

Nice looking fella!

This picture took a while because Staci wouldn't get close to the cliff's edge. Thankfully this little palm tree was nearby.

But it was really pretty windy outside.

Not a badview to wake up to huh?

Note the iguana's on the cliff face.

One of the watch towers.

The wildlife looks pretty mean.

This was a band of musicians atop this tower. They were up there playing music all day.
